SUCCESS STORY
Cath.
I built a life full of adventure
THE STARTING POINT
Where Cath started.
By the time Cath came to us she had already tried a great deal to feel better, and none of it had held.
Things had reached the point where she describes her brain as having snapped one day over an email. She was slurring her words, struggling to finish sentences, and having panic attacks. Somewhere between the work, the responsibility and trying to be what everyone else needed, she had lost sight of Cath.
She was off sick and anxious about going back, worried about ending up exactly where she had started. At that point she thought the goal was to get well enough to return.
Already tried, and it had not held
- Journalling
- CBT
- Hypnotherapy
- Cold therapy
- Morning routines
- Nine weeks in the Alps
WHAT WE DID
What we actually did.
We started where she was, supporting her back into work. Not simply getting her back, but how she wanted to return, who she wanted to be, and what she wanted her life to look like alongside the job.
She returned, picked up four more clients, and then something stopped feeling right. She started asking a bigger question: what am I doing with my life? She had been limiting herself because her role was what she had always done, familiar and safe, almost a comfort blanket.
So the work moved past managing stress and into rediscovering her. Her values, her energy drains and gains, the people pleasing, the boundaries, the limiting beliefs, and what her perfect day would actually look like. Two words came out of it that mattered enough for her to have them put on a bracelet: brave, and bold.
Cath completed all twelve modules and still comes to the weekly group calls, unless she is away somewhere having the time of her life, in the life she rebuilt for herself.
WHAT CHANGED
And this is where she is now.
Her word for the year was adventure, and she took it literally. She has a place in the Alps where she teaches other people to ski. She skis off-piste. She bikes there in the summer. She joined an open-water swimming group, took up paddleboarding, and paddled out to an island (which is a brilliant story I am sure she will tell you if you meet her one day). She bought a campervan, converted it herself, and takes herself off in it.
Professionally she became a consultant, which gives her a say over what work she takes and when.
Here is the part we love. Before she worked with us, she went to the Alps for nine weeks to feel better, and then had to come home to the life she was struggling with. Today she does not need to escape her life to find adventure. She built the adventure into it.
- Teaches skiing in the Alps
- Converted her own campervan
- Open-water swimming, and paddleboarding to an island
- Went independent as a consultant
